Planning and Zoning Committee Meeting Minutes

Meeting Held January 25, 2017

A regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Tioga, Texas was held Wednesday, January 25,m 2017 at Tioga City Hall, 600 Main Street, Tioga, Texas.

Call to Order:  The P&Z meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m.

Prayer: Given by Janet Sloane

Declaring a Quorum: A quorum was declared.  The committee members present were Arlene Joice, Janet Sloane, Kristi Staples, Dale Cavin and Patrick Coyle.

Approval of Minutes:  November Minutes were read and approved.  Janet Sloane motioned, Patrick Coyle seconded, all ayes.

Subdivision Ordinances:  Committee is to continue to review and familiarize itself with ordinances to prepare for future growth in Tioga.  Study of subdivision regulations is a priority.  Also study Section 18, Planned Development Ordinance.

Committee needs to be prepared for scheduled update of Land Use and Capital Improvement Plan.  As an advisory committee we need to have our comments prepared by August.

Janet Sloane asked for LRRTA and the Trails Association to be put on next month’s agenda, as talk about Land Use is being covered, to see if there is any local interest in Tioga joining with the Trails Association to work on a fire break at Corp Land to help protect land and strengthen our relationship with the Corp.  It is hopeful that this will also help to further the idea and planning for trails in Tioga.  Michelle Maxwell Ellis from LRRTA and Paul Rodarmer will come to speak with the committee.

Next Meeting: Next meeting set for February 22, 2017, 7:00 p.m.

Adjourn:  Meeting adjourned 7:30 p.m. Motion made by Kristi Staples, seconded by Janet Sloane, Motion carries.

Notice is hereby given that a public hearing and regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Tioga, Texas will be held January 25, 2017 at Tioga City Hall, 600 Main Street, Tioga, Texas, beginning at 7:00 p.m.. This is an OPEN MEETING, open to the public, subject to the OPEN MEETING LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS and, AS REQUIRED BY LAW, is hereby posted at the Tioga City Hall on January 20, 2017, giving notice of date, time, place and agenda thereof.

AGENDA:
1. Call to order.

2. Prayer

3. Declaring of a quorum.

4. Discuss and consider approving minutes of November 30, 2016.
5. Begin review of subdivision ordinances. New members will become
  familiar with content of ordinances to prepare for the growth in Tioga.

6. Open forum and discussion of new business for future meeting agendas.
