Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting Minutes
Meeting Held March 30, 2016
A regular meeting of the Planning and Zoningl Commission of the City of Tioga, Texas was held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Tioga City Hall, 600 Main Street, Tioga, Texas.
Call to Order: The public meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m.
Prayer: Given by Janet Sloane
Declaring a Quorum: A quorum was declared. The committee members present were Arlene Joice, Janet Sloane, Patrick Coyle, Dale Cavin, and Kristi Staples. Guests Dale Thomas and Gretchen Coyle.
Approval of Minutes: February Minutes were read and approved. Motion made by Patrick Coyle seconded by Dale Cavin. All ayes.
Historic District and 377 Thoroughfare
The Committee has agreed not to call the downtown area the Historic District. There being too many rules, regulations and restrictions associated with developing and maintaining an historic district. The project to maintain historical integrity will be referred to as the C3-Central Business District Project or Ordinances. The Committee will focus on tightening ordinances for how it will be developed in the future.
The C3 Ordinances are much cleaner and easier to maintain. This will lend to future P&Z Committees being able to add to and expand ordinances.
The Committee needs to look at how we can take all the past information and research that we have and simplify it to fit our needs to amend and add to current ordinances to maintain C3 zoning.
P&Z will have a special meeting on April 13, 2016 to make these additions and amendments. These will be given to Donna who can pass them on to the city lawyer or start them on the appropriate process track.
Next Meeting set for April 27, 2016 7:00 p.m.
Adjourn: Meeting was adjourned at 8:04 p.m. Motion made by Kristi Staples, seconded by Janet Sloane. All ayes.

Notice is hereby given that a regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Tioga, Texas will be held March 30, 2016 at Tioga City Hall, 600 Main Street, Tioga, Texas, beginning at 7:00 p.m.. This is an OPEN MEETING, open to the public, subject to the OPEN MEETING LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS and, AS REQUIRED BY LAW, is hereby posted at the Tioga City Hall on March 25, 2016, giving notice of date, time, place and agenda thereof.

4. Discuss and consider minutes of February 24, 2016.
5. Discuss and consider creating an historical district as well as
a 377 thoroughfare plan for the city of Tioga.
